What is Exercise Physiology?
Exercise physiology (EP) is the study of how the human body responds to exercise both short and long term. EP'S study how exercise can treat and prevent chronic disease and manage symptoms.
Pathology domains covered by the services of EPs include cardiovascular, metabolic, neurological, musculoskeletal, cancers, kidney, respiratory / pulmonary and mental health, and any other conditions for which there is evidence that exercise can improve the client’s clinical status.
Exercise physiologists (EPs) are university qualified allied health professionals equipped with the knowledge, skills and competencies to design, deliver and evaluate safe and effective exercise interventions for people with acute, sub-acute or chronic medical conditions, injuries or disabilities.
Exercise Physiology is offered under Medicare and some private health funds. To book in for a Medicare rebated session, you need a referral from your GP.
